"To desire and strive to be of some service to the world, to aim at doing something which shall really increase the happiness and welfare and virtue of mankind - this is a choice which is possible for all of us; and surely it is a good haven to sail for."

Henry Van Dyke

Partners and Affiliates : American Red Cross

The American Red Cross (ARC) was established in 1881 to serve the American people in times of peace and during war, in the event of natural disaster or national calamity. The ARC's activities include blood drives, swimming lessons, and educational programs in addition to disaster response.

The Red Cross is an invaluable resource for disaster training as a result of its century-long worldwide experience in a full range of disaster responses. They have developed numerous standard courses applicable to many organizations, from non-medical neighborhood groups to military entities. The MRC will work in cooperation with the ARC to bring this training to its members, as needed.

Emergencies may also bring members of the two organizations together. For example, if the ARC needs extra volunteers in setting up and running a temporary shelter in the event of a local emergency, they may call upon the director of their local MRC for additional support.
